Mani Monday!

Mani Monday!

I know this is more of a spring nail set- but I couldn’t help it, I just love girly colors. I got this done by my boyfriend’s cousin at Paul Mitchell the School of Fresno. The pink is a gel color from OPI (I honestly can’t remember what it was) and the glitter is “Ignite the Night” by Essie, which I just picked up at Ulta. (We put a gel top coat over it to see if we could make it extra shiny, it worked!)

I would definitely recommend picking up “Ignite the Night” by Essie to keep on hand as an accent nail color!

Makeup We Can Actually Afford: Maybelline BB Cream

Makeup We Can Actually Afford: Maybelline BB Cream

So, as you know- I’m a fan of both drug store and high-end products. However, when it comes to foundations, I feel like if you can find something that works for you for less than $15, you shouldn’t hesitate to buy it just because it’s not high end. I realize that with all of my traveling that I do for school and work, I prefer to own some drugstore products that I can take with me on trips where if they got broken or damaged it wouldn’t be a huge loss. I’ve found that of all of the products I’ve ever purchased, the Maybelline BB Cream was the best foundation I have ever owned. It is best applied with a beauty blender or sponge, and has NEVER caused me to break out. It can be worn alone or with a powder, (I recommend Revlon Nearly Naked). This product is about $8-$9 and not only gives your skin a great matte finish, but also gives you some sun protection, (great for white people like myself.) Maybelline usually has great products (though I’m not a fan of the Fit Me line- side note: I want to try the shine stick)- but this one seems to be a holy grail for me. Definitely pick it up next time you’re at Target or Ulta and let me know what you think!

Finally, soft hair.

Finally, soft hair.

So you know how I wrote that post about WISHING I had soft hair like “everyone else”? Well I finally achieved it. After a few months of split-end serum and S-Factor smoothing cream, I realized it was going to take more than over-the-counter beauty products to fix my problem.
So my boyfriend’s cousin, who’s a very talented Paul Mitchell student, performed a “PM Shines” clear coat on my hair. It’s basically like a top coat for your nails. It makes your hair shiny and soft. It finally solved my problem. Now my hair is actually easy to comb through and feels like that fluff on my kitty (pictured here) Talilah.
You can check out my boyfriend’s cousin’s blog- her name is Jess, as http://www.cosmojess.wordpress.com.

By the way, this treatment is only about $25 and totally worth it.

My Smoothie addiction.

My Smoothie addiction.

So recently I’ve developed a bit of a problem. I think I am consuming roughly 1-2 smoothies a day. The main culprits are the “Razzle Dazzle” from Juice It Up, the Make It Light “Strawberry Surf Rider” (which is on sale at Jamba Juice in a 16 oz. right now for 50% off!) and the Make It Light Strawberries Wild. This photo I took this morning, while sitting in a JJ (free wi-fi, yay!). Please ignore my stupid bangs, I get tired of them coming straight down on my face.
Anyways, I became addicted to smoothies because A, they’re ridiculously good for you, B, they’re very low calorie, and C, on a good day, I can get away with having a 16 oz. for a meal. It’s really easy to feel full on hardly any calories, and it makes me feel better when entering my food into the My Fitness Pal app, which I’ll link to through the photo. It’s an incredible app that lets you compete with friends, and literally has a database that can track every food imaginable, whether it be home made, from a restaurant, or from a fast food place. You can also make your own recipes as well as track your water intake, which if you didn’t know, drinking 8 glasses of water a day can literally make you lose weight twice as fast.
